MDPE (Medium Density Polyethylene) PE-80 Pipe for Natural Gas Application

GENERAL

CCSI gas pipes are produced using PE-80 grade Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE). PE-80 compound has ultra violet (UV) resistant, corrosion resistant, flexible and non-conductive characteristics. This pipe is designed to withstand the long term operating pressure with the minimum required strength (MRS) of 8Mpa with a safety factor of 2.0.

PE-80 pipe is very high flexibility, has excellent environment stress and cracking resistance (ESCR), chemical and abrasion resistance and light weight. PE-80 grade pipe can be joined by thermal fusion (either butt-fusion or electro-fusion) to create sealed, fully end load bearing pipe systems and also may use mechanical compression fitting jointing system.

The recommended installation method is by underground direct burial installation by open continuous trenching as outdoor distribution pipe networks.

REFERENCE STANDARDS

The offered MDPE gas pipe complies to the ISO 4437-2014, Buried polyethylene (PE) pipes for the supply of gaseous fuels –metric series- specification.

CONSTRUCTIONS

PIPE MATERIAL

Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) PE-80 grade

– Yellow color with excellent weathering and pigment stabilisers

– Resistance to gas condensate

– Excellent long-term thermal stability and UV-resistance

– Highly flexible and excellent mechanical properties

– The pipes grade material designation which have long term hydrostatic strength in 50 years service lifetime

– Resistance to Slow Crack Growth and Rapid Crack Propagation (RCP)

The manufactured pipe dimensions follow a common term that so called as Standard Dimension Ratio or SDR, that means the outside diameter divided by wall thickness. The relationship between SDR and wall thickness is, the thinner the wall thickness, the higher the SDR and vice versa.

The minimum wall thickness and pressure classifications refer to material designation of PE-80 class.
